Steve’s Meadow

This is one of the long term gardens. The client wanted to turn this area sheltered by the beech hedge into a wildflower meadow.

We started by re-levelling the area and removing a large old stump (which was placed at the back of the client’s main meadow/orchard for the wildlife) and building the bank up with sleepers.

We then meticulously raked the ground till it was a fine tilth and some sand topsoil to level where the stump was, and sowed it up with some native wildflowers, which after a couple of years of maturing are now producing this exquisite long lasting display including Oxeye Daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare), Field/Common Mallow (Malva sylvestris) and Common Knapweed (Centaurea nigra).

This the garden is now under a maintenance plan to keep it in check and avoid any issues with potential invasive species such as Three-Cornered Leek.
